The proposed 1-Day Training on Evidence-Based Prevention and International Standards aims to educate participants on effective strategies to combat substance abuse. The training will cover what works in prevention, such as community-based programs, early education, and policies that restrict access to substances. It will also highlight what does not work, like scare tactics and punitive measures, which often fail to address underlying issues and can lead to stigmatization. The session will delve into why certain approaches succeed or fail, emphasizing the importance of scientific evidence, tailored interventions, and the need for comprehensive, multi-faceted strategies to effectively prevent drug abuse.
